Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of Russia Exchange New Year Congratulatory Messages

Upon the coming of the new year of 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of Russia exchanged new year congratulatory messages.

Wang Yi said in the congratulatory message that China and Russia have carried out much far-sighted and productive work in boosting bilateral relations and enhancing international cooperation in 2015. The two countries jointly held the commemorations on the 70th anniversary of victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, launched connection and cooperation between the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union, and have conducted close and effective cooperation within multilateral frameworks including the UN and in Syrian issue and other major international hotspot issues with symbolic significance and influence. In the new year, Chinese Foreign Ministry will enhance communication and coordination with its Russian counterpart, and together take the opportunity of celebrating the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborly and Friendly Cooperation Between China and Russia to vigorously carry forward the peaceful concept of bilateral long-standing friendship, comprehensively implement various important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, turn bilateral high-level political relations into more results of practical cooperation and international cooperation, safeguard their common interests and promote regional and global peace, security and stability.

Sergey Lavrov expressed in the message that the year of 2015, which is soon to be over, serves as an important development stage of Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination. The two countries jointly celebrated the 70th anniversary of victory of the World War II, which embodied common determination to safeguard the outcome of the World War II and the current international order based on the UN Charter. The close high level political dialogue injected new impetus into the all-round development of bilateral relations. Bilateral strategic coordination is playing a more and more important role as a ballast in international affairs. It is hoped that the commemorations for the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborly and Friendly Cooperation Between Russia and China and the Russia-China Media Exchange Year to be held next year will yield fruitful results
